I visited a friend in Headingley, just west of Winnipeg, about a week ago and we went for a walk.
This is prairie flatland, not just grassland, but shrubs, bushes, and slender trees.
It was a windy day and the green leaves had only just started popping out.
So nice to see.

Dear Louella, I enjoyed the pix. I wish we had more accessible wilderness here in Toronto.Love, Laura

This looks so fresh to me, wonderful photos! And knowing it was perhaps just outside the City added an interesting element for me, as well ~

Thanks 😊. Yes, it’s near Winnipeg in the southern prairie area of Manitoba. I grew up in the northeast, on the shores of Lake Winnipeg where the landscape is not flat, but Canadian Shield with rocks and hills and cliffs and trees and lots of lakes.
