Sign-Word Stories

This post is a bit different from my usual posts.

For one thing you will have to try and read my awful handwriting.

It will work better on a computer or tablet.

Have fun.

Below is a page with 41 photos I took of signs.

  1. Great fun. So glad to have found you via a comment you made on Erin Murphy’s excellent “Insomnia Chronicles” on Flash Boulevard. I keep several old eyeglass boxes where I stash cut up words and occasionally a phrase. When I get stuck on a bit of writing, I dump them out and get unstuck.

      1. What comes to mind for me is a ransom note, which could be a very funny story. Maybe a kid hides is dad’s favorite socks and is holding them hostage for a Sunday afternoon ice cream store visit for soft swirl vanilla dipped in chocolate on a waffle cone … or something ~ 🧐. I’m leaning more towards children’s stories and ways of thinking these days, meaning I’ve just written one, but I have a few from the past as well and a book that I’d like to get out this spring about a little houseboat, already illustrated and also translated into Spanish. Anyway, I love what you did. It’s great fun to watch people use their imaginations and their craft to create new art ~ like you did here. Thanks.
