The Adventures of Plump Cow – Season 5: Rural Road Trip -Louella Lester

This is the fifth season in a series of graphic stories, which I photographed and wrote starting in 2015 or so.

I serialized each season of adventures by creating daily posts on Facebook.

They developed a bit of a following, haha, and I have now decided to put them together as blog posts on this website.

Enjoy Season 5!

When the car stopped Plump Cow scrambled up to the window. “Wow! These are my people and there are so many of them. Moo. Moo.” But they couldn’t seem to hear her. Plump Cow let out a wistful sigh as the car moved on.

Soon Plump Cow forgot about the other cows. “What is this?” She climbed up into a blue container and found a newspaper. But the headlines were not interesting, so she slid down to the ground to admire the bulrushes. “I wonder why they’re called ‘bull’ rushes? They don’t look like bulls and they aren’t going anywhere.” Plump Cow could never understand this crazy world.

Plump Cow started coughing before she even noticed the smoke wafting about her head. “Oh my, I hope it’s not a barbecue! And what is this other strange contraption?” She hopped onto it. “Who-o-o-aa! Sto-oo-o-op-pp-pp-p!” Finally it did and Plump Cow took off fast to the safety of some straw bales.

It felt much safer when she went inside the porch. Plump Cow discovered a soft little bed. She curled up in the corner for a nap. When she woke up she was shocked to find she was sharing the space. She asked the cat for her name. “Cloudy the Earless Cat. Now, get out of my bed,” said the cat.

Cloudy went into the house and Plump Cow sneaked in behind her. The cat went immediately to her food dish. Plump Cow jumped on her tail, trying to play, but the cat ignored her. Plump Cow went closer to the food dish. The stinky fishy food drove her back outside. She was, after all, a vegetarian.

Once outside Plump Cow bound up onto the car roof to enjoy the view before she went home. The antenna there caught her imagination and soon she was daydreaming about travelling in outer space. A few minutes later the car started. Plump Cow slid down into the car. “That was an odd little trip. Now it’s time to head on home.” And they did.
