The Adventures of Plump Cow – Season 4: Cycling Trip – Louella Lester

This is the fourth season in a series of graphic stories, which I photographed and wrote starting in 2015 or so.

I serialized each season of adventures by creating daily posts on Facebook.

They developed a bit of a following, haha, and I have now decided to put them together as blog posts on this website.

Enjoy Season 4!

Plump Cow was having trouble getting over the untimely demise of her Snowy the Snowman. One morning she decided to take matters into her own hooves. I’m going to get into condition for a cycling trip, she thought. And she heaved herself onto her bicycle up there on the poetry bookshelf.

On the day of her trip Plump Cow could hardly wait to leave the concrete jungle behind. “I dedicate this trip to Snowy!” she said, wiping a tear from her eye as she jumped onto her bicycle. She was puffing when she arrived at the rural B&B, Bunn House, but she was too excited to notice she was tired out.

As she was about to go into the house Plump Cow heard a rustling noise. “What the heck is that?” She jumped onto the fence to get a closer look. Then she almost fell off when she heard a deep voice right by her ear. “We are llamas and you look to be about snack size, haha.” Plump Cow hoofed it towards the house. “I was just joking. Come back little cow,” said the llama. But Plump Cow wasn’t taking any chances.

On her way to the house she saw a horse buggy and she couldn’t resist climbing up, but it started raining so she took off. “Phew!” Plump Cow was relieved to get indoors. She looked around and the place was filled with all sorts of things. There was an old trunk and a couple of ducks sitting on top of a very old telephone, no less.

Plump Cow played chopsticks on the old piano. She took a spin on a phonograph, but fell over when it went too fast. So, she moved on to try her hoof at spinning (not as in the exercise class, but in making yarn).

When Plump Cow went up to the second floor she was glad she was in shape from her cycling. It was a long set of stairs! Upstairs she found an old sailing ship and pretended she was out to sea. Then she heard a strange sound that drew her to the next room. It was a bit dark in there and a shiver ran up and down Plump Cow’s spine.

“Oh no!” Plump Cow had watched a few horror films in her day and in that room she saw her biggest and second biggest fear. First she saw old dolls! That scared her so much she hopped onto a doily on a table. In her terror and confusion she thought the doily had some type of power to protect her from the dolls, so she stayed there until…

…a creaking noise startled her off the table and she landed on her second biggest fear. It was an old scruffy rocking horse. Plump Cow’s heart was beating so hard she thought she was dying. Then a miracle happened. Her bicycle somehow appeared on the floor below her.

Plump Cow leapt down onto her bike. She bumped down the long flight of stairs and zipped past the cat holding the door open. She flew along the gravel driveway. Behind her she could hear the llama, “Hey, hey, really, I was only joking, I wouldn’t eat you. I’m vegetarian.” Plump Cow never looked back and kept pedaling until she reached home, safe and sound. “Phew! Now that was an adventure,” said the chubby little bovine.

The End.
