A friend, Guy Biederman, thought socks was a good idea when I asked for photo suggestions.
Now, I don’t mind the look of socks, but I’ve always hated wearing them. As a child, as soon as I could doff the socks and shoes in the spring, I ran about barefoot until fall temperatures dropped. The bottoms of my feet were like leather and could handle most anything. Well, not a nail sticking out of a hidden board, but that’s another story.
The problem is that I lived along the shores of Lake Winnipeg, in Manitoba, Canada, and live in Winnipeg now, so there’s no choice but to wear socks and shoes/boots pretty much six months of the year.
So, here you go!

As a child, I always took pride in my leather-like soles and ability to walk on gravel. I still love walking for miles on sandy beaches but gravel not so much!

These are very fun, Louella! Like you, I like to go barefoot at least around the house, but looking at socks evokes a feeling of comfort for me. Plus one can be subtly or not so subtly wild with them if the mood strikes. Wonderful photos!
