The Adventures of Plump Cow – Season 6 – Staying with Stan – Louella Lester

This is the sixth, and sadly the last, season in a series of graphic stories, which I photographed and wrote starting in 2015 or so.

I serialized each season of adventures by creating daily posts on Facebook.

They developed a bit of a following, haha, and I have now decided to put them together as blog posts on this website.

Enjoy Season 6!

Plump Cow needed some air so she slipped outside without bothering to check the weather forecast. As she walked the wind picked and being low to the ground she became lost in the swirling snow. When things calmed down she wasn’t able to recognize where she was but she recognized that there was a dog sniffing her back. “Holy Cow, hahaha, get it…cow holy cow…haha. What the heck are you doing out on a night like this? I’m Stanley the French bulldog, but you can just call me Stan. Who are you?” Plump Cow was shivering too hard to answer, both because of the dog and because of the cold. “Well,” said Stan, “You better come inside and warm up.

When they got into the house Stan scampered to his food dish and was very disappointed to find that it was empty. He turned to Plump Cow and licked his chops. Plump Cow started to feel a bit like she might be snack material for the dog. She jumped up on a lidded pail so it was harder for him to reach her. Eventually Stan left the kitchen and Plump Cow relaxed, but she still couldn’t seem to get warm.

Except for some snoring and the occasional snort coming from the bedroom the house was quiet. Plump Cow, still shivering, made her way to the bed where Stan was sleeping. She climbed up, very carefully snuggled up to the warm dog and fell asleep. A few hours later both of them woke with a start when Stan tried to roll over and bumped into Plump Cow, who then fell off the bed with a plunk.  “Moooomoooooo—“

Luckily for Plump Cow there was a rug on the floor to soften the fall. But all was not good. Stan was a morning dog who was ready to play as soon as he hopped off the bed. Before Plump Cow could get up on her feet Stan was batting her about the room like a ball. Bam! She hit the wall.

“Moooooooo…Ouch!” Plump Cow’s left ear and horn lay on the floor beside her and the dog was loping towards her again. The cow scooped up her ear and galloped to the kitchen. She shimmied up the counter leg just before the dog rounded the corner. “Phew!” Plump Cow searched the drawers and was able to find some glue which she used to reattached her ear and horn. (For those of you who saw Season 1 you may have a sense of deja vu, but this was the other ear.) Meanwhile Stan fell asleep in the basket below.

Plump Cow knew that Stan would eventually have to go outside to do his business. She stationed herself on the counter near the door ready to jump down at a moment’s notice. She was right–soon Stan went to the door. Plump Cow made her escape. She hid in the snow on a table until Stan returned to the house unaware the his new toy had escaped. Plump Cow took off like a bat out of hell and was home safe in no time at all.

The End.

And now I have some sad news. While shooting what would have been Season 7, at Confusion Corner in Winnipeg, there was a terrible accident and the wonderful Plump Cow met her demise.

RIP dear Plump Cow. We will never forget you.
