It’s a stretch for me to take photos of the moon because I don’t use fancy camera equipment. I’m not interested in owning or hauling around a heavy camera bag. I love my tiny camera with it’s tiny zoom. I like that it fits in my pocket or can dangle from my wrist as I ride my bicycle. I like making my little camera stretch for shots—things like moon shots. I enjoy working within the parameters of my camera. And if it can’t make a shot that’s okay.

One night, a little over a week ago, I stepped out on my balcony and watched the waxing moon dangle just above the horizon. It mingled there with the red cross on top of the hospital across the river and a few other lights that poked out through the trees. I considered getting my little camera, but hesitated knowing moon shots are a stretch for it. I was feeling a bit sleepy and stepped back inside. But before I knew it I was out there again, stretching to the moon.

And just for variety here are a few older shots. The two photos just below, taken in 2016, have stretched into what look like paintings.

Sometimes the sun likes to stretch a bit and mimic the moon, as on this foggy day in 2017.

Here are 3 photos of the sun trying to look like the moon on a smoky day during a forest fire in the summer of 2019.

It always feels good to stretch.
Your comments on portability of the camera resonate with me 🙂

Yes! I enjoy not worrying about all the technical stuff. Just working within the little camera’s limitations is fun.

Lovely series of images from your little camera. It’s not about what you’ve got but how you use it 🙂

I love how you and your camera stretched to the moon, you always surprise me and make me smile. Just out of curiosity – what is your tiny camera? Sorry if you’ve said before ’cause I’ve forgotten.

Thanks😊. My camera is a little Canon Powershot ELPH330 HS with little built in 10X optical zoom. It is about the size of the palm of my hand and a 1/2 inch thick. The zoom opens to about 1 1/2 inches. I love it. So easy and convenient. I carry it all the time in a side pocket of my backpack or in my pocket. I have arthritis in my hands so it’s light and easy for me to operate.
