Once a year, in September, the writing group to which I belong goes on a weekend writing retreat. We write, read, wander about, share, and generally enjoy ourselves. I also take photos, not of us writing, but of everything else that catches my interest. And morning dew always catches my interest.

On Sunday morning, I woke up before anyone else and, after a cup of tea, I planned on going back to sleep.  But I couldn’t ignore the view out the window. It was misty—I couldn’t resist. Out the door I went.

The mist was a bit disappointing, might have been better if I had gone out earlier, but the dew was worth getting wet feet. The feature photo, above, was taken as I hiked up from the river bank. If you are looking at these photos on your phone you might want to enlarge them to really enjoy the dew.

Here’s the B&W version.

Here’s a closeup in colour.

And closer yet.

Even short cut grass looks good covered in light and dew.

  1. I love these photos, Louella, and I also love the way you show us the beauty of Manitoba (I’m just assuming it’s Manitoba): so vast yet so intimate. And, in case I haven’t used the word “love” often enough yet, the way you convey your love for the places you photograph.
